Minimum wages are a problem that is occurring today. People think that it should be raised to $15 and others not. They each have their pros and cons. But keeping the minimum wage the same outweighs the cons, and the pros of raising it. When minimum wage increases, prices increase, and job loss and company closure occur. The government should not control the minimum wage.
Covid-19
Coronavirus has been a problem for the past year. People are struggling with it, and they are overreacting. We need people to follow the rules but not to use sanitizer so much that it doesn’t have any affect anymore. People who do not follow the rules at all should be fined. If people do not follow the rules on private property, they should be fined. Extra money should go to various places like to create more vaccines. There should be alternatives to hand sanitizer, so you don’t get immune to the hand sanitizer.
Hong Kong Protests
The Hong Kong Protests are a series of protests that started in 2019. This was caused by the Fugitive Offenders and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Legislation Bill 2019 being proposed by the government. If this bill were to be passed, this would allow extraditions in Hong Kong. Since Hong Kong has a different system than the rest of mainland China, allowing extraditions would risk Hong Kong being exposed to the rest of mainland China’s justice system. To stop these protests, the best thing to do would be to make sure China listens to these protests and what citizens are saying. Coming up with compromises would also help. Only then would these protests stop.
Mental Health Issues in Public Education
Mental health in public education has slowly been decreasing. Everyday, you can find students who are overwhelmed with homework, and their mental health deteriorating. Even teachers get stressed with the workloads. Shortening school time by an hour would help the workloads. Each class would be shortened by 10-15 minutes, and if students are struggling, there should be tutors to help them. The state government would be controlling this law.
Afghan War
The Afghanistan War has been fought by the United States, the Afghan Army, the Taliban, and al-Qaeda since 2001 after the attacks on the United States on 9/11. Thousands of military and civilian lives have been lost to the war and many more have been injured. This topic has been a conversation of interest between many because of the United States' role within the war and whether or not it should intervene. If the United States were to secede from the war it and its citizens would be safer from harm, as the United States would no longer be of the utmost importance to the Taliban and al-Qaeda. The war will wage on with or without the United States, so to keep itself safe it should back out. If the Taliban or al-Qaeda should attack, cause harm to or within the United States or its people, it will be authorized that United States should defend itself, its people and its allies.
Stem-cell Research
Stem cell research is a type of science committed to the study of stem cells (what they do, and how they can heal people). Stem cells are cells with the ability to replace different types of cells and tissues, they can be found in adult bone marrow and human embryos. These cells are able to help those going through chemotherapy, fight some types of cancers and blood related diseases. Stem cell research is a current issue within the United States due to the divide within the country caused by what some say is the unethical production of embryos for the purpose of extracting stem cells within them. The Dickey-Wicker Amendment should be terminated in order to allow for both federal and private funding of all types of stem cell research, including embryonic stem cell research, adult stem cell research, and pluripotent stem cell research. The termination of the Dickey-Wicker Amendment will allow for more funding to go into stem cell research which will in turn create new ways to treat patients and possibly find cures that were previously unknown.
Education Reform
Education reform is the goal of changing public education in terms of educational theory and practice. Such that it used to be focused on input it is now focused on output. The cons of this is that it may not be suitable for some students, and it can hurt some of the curriculum by focusing on some of the stuff it does. But the pros of it are it pays attention to students who need it, allows for a better environment, makes smaller schools, and gives students the chance to make a career when they finish high school.
Chinese Concentration Camps
These camps hold and detain Uyghurs and other Muslims because these religions are banned in Communist China. Some countries have expressed support to the camps, but most people have criticized it because of human rights abuse, mistreatment, torture, rape and genocide. I believe that anything that detains people for religion as long as they are not taking away the rights of other people should be stopped.
North Korea
North Korea is a small eastern country close to China. North Korea is an independent Communist state. North Korea is ruled by a fierce line of dictators. The current leader is Jim-Kong un. Over the reign of Jim, he has installed fear and tyranny over his people. North Korea is slow in technology but they have reached a primitive age in nuclear technology. Jim boasts about his nukes and he has threatened to use them on the US. This Is unacceptable. The government should not tolerate to have a small leader threatening us with his miniscule army. Unfortunately we cannot attack them so I propose that we hold a treaty and finally come to a true peace.
Gun Control
Gun Control has been a debated topic for a long time. Many believe that guns should be enforced and controlled. Many also stick to the second Amendment and firmly stand by their arms. I believe that there should be a mutual benefit to both sides. I think that guns should be controlled to appease one side while also making it a loose end to appease the other side.
